Cape Canaveral, FL — 8/29/2025
ASCEND Aerospace & Technology, a joint venture of Aerodyne Industries and Amentum’s Jacobs Technology Inc. is proud to announce that it has been awarded NASA’s Contract for Organizing Spaceflight Mission Operations and Systems (COSMOS) at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
The COSMOS contract represents NASA’s next generation of human spaceflight mission operations support, transitioning from the current Mission Systems Operations Contract (MSOC) program. Performance under COSMOS is scheduled to begin later this year, with a five-year base period and two potential 24-month options, giving the contract a possible nine-year duration through 2034.
Under COSMOS, ASCEND’s team will provide critical support to several mission-defining areas:
Mission Control Center Systems (MCCS): Real-time flight operations, telemetry, trajectory, and contingency support for the International Space Station (ISS) and Moon-to-Mars missions.
Training Systems: High-fidelity astronaut and flight controller training for ISS, Orion, and commercial crew programs, including advanced simulators and integrated mission training environments.
Space Vehicle Mockup Facility (SVMF): Full-scale mockups and environmental simulators supporting astronaut training, developmental engineering, and public outreach.
“This milestone reflects the dedication and expertise of our entire ASCEND team,” said Andrew Allen, CEO of Aerodyne Industries, LLC. “We are honored to continue supporting NASA’s mission and advancing human space exploration for the future.”
The multi-year contract strengthens ASCEND’s role as a trusted NASA partner, leveraging decades of operational excellence while creating opportunities for innovation and growth. The team-first culture of ASCEND will remain at the heart of delivering mission-critical services under COSMOS.
